In Sweden, we are looking to expand with a Property Underwriter, who has a keen interest in sales, and wants to grow our portfolio of insurances, especially focusing on our commercial property products in selected client and industry segments.

About the team

Based in Stockholm, you will become part of our growing local office, currently consisting of 27 individuals working across multiple lines of business. The Property team is part of our Property & Construction department, which comprises 14 experts across the Nordic countries. Each team member specializes in their respective field of insurance.

Our headquarters in Copenhagen serves as the hub of our Nordic operations, supported by dedicated teams in Sweden and Norway who provide local insights and services, enabling us to meet the specific demands of clients throughout the region.

We have built a strong position in the Nordic market and continue to expand in commercial property.

About the position

As our new Property Underwriter, you will be a vital player in driving sales for our Commercial Property portfolio in Sweden and have the opportunity to influence changes in a fast-growing, ever-changing business environment and insurance marketplace.

You will have extensive daily contact with external brokers, clients, and distribution partners, both over the phone and in person.

You will also collaborate closely with other members of our Property & Construction department as well as Distribution and Claims.

Examples of responsibilities include:

  • Focusing on sales activities towards brokers and clients in Sweden, measured by activity and sales according to the budget
  • Specializing in commercial property insurance offerings
  • Quoting, negotiating, and closing suitable business
  • Taking responsibility for part of the property portfolio in Sweden, driving profitable growth
  • Expanding distribution channels and growing our partner network
  • Analyzing and evaluating risks together with skilled and experienced colleagues
  • Interacting with brokers and our insurance carriers on a daily basis

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you are service-minded, with strong communication skills and the ability to build new relationships.

As part of our Nordic Property & Construction department, you should be a collaborative team player who can also work independently with a self-starter attitude. We expect strong interpersonal, administrative, and analytical skills along with a pro-active attitude towards handling complex tasks

It is important that you have an understanding of sales-oriented working methods, with good negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. Moreover, we expect you to be trustworthy and helpful, taking responsibility and thriving with increasing levels of independence

We hope you have:

  • A suitable educational background and bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, building, economics/finance administration, or insurance
  • Sales and distribution experience
  • Technical expertise in risk assessment and underwriting
  • The ability to negotiate business terms and positively influence insurance brokers or other parties
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working within property insurance, which is an advantage but not mandatory

The most important attribute is your attitude and dedication to the position, as well as an interest in developing your skills and driving our business forward together with your team.

Speaking and writing fluent Swedish and English is a must, and an understanding of other Nordic languages is a plus.
