Who Are We?

The RiskPoint Group is a global Managing General Underwriter (MGU) providing best-in-class insurance solutions backed by the insurance companies we act on behalf of.

You will become part of our new, small team of highly skilled BI professionals, who together holds many years of experience in insurance data.

Our BI team is part of our growing IT team, which is part of our Finance & Operations department. In this role, you will be working with other IT colleagues in both Denmark and the UK. But also with the rest of the company.

We operate in an agile organization with close cross-border cooperation across all business lines. And our organizational structure is flat, leaving many opportunities for all employees to make a difference, take responsibility, excel, and grow.

About the Position

As our new BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing our data pipeline architecture, as well as creating insightful reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

This is an onsite role based either in our Copenhagen office or in our London office, with the option to work remotely if approved by your manager. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

You will report to our CTO, who is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support various business needs.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide efficient solutions.
  • Develop and implement data integration solutions using ETL tools.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity across all data platforms.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues to maintain data flow reliability.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our data architecture and BI capabilities.

A Great Match for Us

The ideal candidate will have completed a degree that provides a solid foundation in computer science principles, programming, data structures, and database management. That could be, for example, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

You must have worked professionally for 2-5 years in roles involving business intelligence development, demonstrating the ability to handle job-specific challenges and deliver results in a business environment.

Moreover you need to have:

  • Excellent understanding of SQL language and commercial experience with any of the top data platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL, Snowflake, etc.) and extensive experience writing complex SQL queries and managing databases on one or more major SQL platforms, proving your ability to manipulate and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java) and experience in developing applications or scripts in a professional setting using one of these languages, showcasing your ability to automate tasks and perform advanced data manipulation.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into the required format, and load it into data warehouses or other destinations.
  • A strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and database design as well as practical experience designing data models and implementing data warehouses, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and reporting capabilities.
  • Created reports and dashboards using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), providing stakeholders with valuable insights and supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience deploying and managing data solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), demonstrating your ability to work in modern, scalable environments.
  • Demonstrated the ability to identify and solve complex data-related problems, ensuring high data quality and reliability.

It is furthermore a requirement that you have a proven track record of working effectively in team settings, communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have excellent problem solving skills, strong communication skills, and always pay attention to the details.

Although not required, we prefer you have:

  • Experience working with large-scale data processing technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Iceberg), indicating your ability to handle and analyze large datasets.
  • Hands-on experience using Trino for querying large datasets and dbt (data build tool) for transforming data, demonstrating proficiency in modern data tools.
  • Practical experience using Terraform to manage infrastructure as code, demonstrating your ability to automate and scale data infrastructure deployments
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and infrastructure automation, indicating your ability to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
